Patrick Shinners works in all areas of the Firm's practice and has handled labor arbitrations, interest arbitrations, administrative proceedings, and state and federal lawsuits. He has represented numerous individual employees with respect to the negotiation and enforcement of employment agreements including severance packages and non-competes. Patrick's recent experience includes successfully arguing before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the Illinois Commerce Commission. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the AFL-CIO's Union Lawyers Alliance, and was formerly chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of BAMSL and union co-chair of the ABA Committee on Practice and Procedure under the National Labor Relations Act. Patrick was an editor for The Developing Labor Law and co-authored Federal and State Law Governing Public Employees, 3rd edition, Missouri Bar, 2008 and Workplace Data: Law and Litigation, Chapter 10 (LMRDA). He is admitted to the Missouri (2005) and Illinois (2006) State Bars, and to numerous federal district and appellate courts. Patrick received a law degree and certificate in Employment Law from St. Louis University Law School in 2005 where he attended on a Dean's Scholarship. Patrick received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.B.A., magna cum laude).
