Strategic Counsel For Workers At Every Organizational Level

Illinois and Missouri Workplace Lawyers

Labor and Employment Law Professionals

Representing the interests of employees, labor unions and employee benefit plans takes skill, creativity, education and practical experience in a wide range of federal, state and local laws. At Schuchat, Cook & Werner, our dedicated team is known nationwide for the quality services we provide to employees, and to the organizations that serve them.

The firm was founded in 1947 by Stanley Schuchat. Jim Cook joined Stanley in 1956, and Charles Werner joined Stanley and Jim in 1960. Stanley passed away in 1979 followed by Charles in 2019, and Jim retired in 2023. We also lost our beloved partners, friends, and mentors Art Martin and Marilyn Teitelbaum in 2012 and 2023 respectively. The attorneys and staff of Schuchat, Cook & Werner are proud to carry on the legacy established by Stanley, Jim, Charles, Art, and Marilyn of a strong commitment to workers’ rights and the labor movement and to providing dedicated, principled, and creative representation.

Since 1947, we have helped workers in Missouri, Illinois and throughout the Midwest with issues ranging from wage and hour disputes and workers’ compensation and long and short-term disability claims to representing the interests of labor unions and the trustees of Taft-Hartley, collectively bargained, multiemployer employee benefit plans.
